Welcome to Trinidad’s guide to Azusa!

This city is located right before the san Gabriel Canyon which give it it’s name. The population is about 47,000 people in the last 2010 Census. It is also a pass by city on the historical Route 66! The city of Azusa has its own Police department and has also merged with LA county fire department to help maintain to have EMT & Paramedic services. Azusa lies along the side of the 210 Freeway and the 605 freeway.


Azusa, CA Schools:

Azusa is served by the Azusa Unified School District. Its schools include:

  • Eleven traditional elementary schools: Dalton, Ellington, Gladstone Street, Hodge, Lee, Magnolia, Mountain View, Murray, Paramount, Powell, and Valleydale

  • Three intermediate schools: Center, Foothill, and Slauson

  • One Kindergarten-only elementary school: Longfellow

  • One elementary-intermediate combo school (grades K-8): Ellington (traditional elementary school) will become a combo in 2015-2016.

  • Azusa High School

  • Gladstone High School

  • Sierra (Continuation) High School — a model continuation school

  • Azusa Adult School

  • Azusa Pacific University

Geography & Climate:

Geographically located in what is considered the San Gabriel Valley, Azusa is at the baseline of the San Gabriel Mountains. This region experiences warm but not too hot and dry summers, with no average monthly temperatures above 71.6 °F.

Economy & Population:

Azusa’s population is estimated 47,000 people and has grown about 2,000 people since the last Census poll. The unemployment rate in Azusa, California, is 8.30%, with job growth of 2.50%. Future job growth over the next ten years is predicted to be 36.70%. There are many growing companies in the area along with big companies such as Costco, Naked Juice and the school districts with their continued push towards education. The income per capita is $18,211, which includes all adults and children. The median household income is $53,063. Azusa was the former home of the Lucky Lager brewery and its successor, General Brewing. Built in 1949, the facility was purchased and converted to production by Miller Brewery in May 1966. A decade later, Miller relocated its operations to the nearby city of Irwindale.

There are plenty of Restaurants,breweries and shops to browse in Azusa. These are some of my favorite places to dine and or grab a drink.

  • La Tolteca - Fine Mexican dining, best Salsa in town, hands down!

  • The Congregation Ale House - Serving craft beer, quality food coupled with a scenic view of downtown Azusa.

  • Max’s Mexican Cuisine - This place has great food selections and the guacamole is a must try if you visit!

  • Aldolino’s - Italian cuisine, serving pasta’s, sandwiches and classic pies.

  • Citrus Crossing (Dining and shopping) - Contains plenty of restaurants and places to shop. Restaurants varying from sushi to gourmet burgers.
